The Bay School

In December 2011, The Bay School held a fundraising event during our second annual First Friday Art Tour. The collection of art featured in the exhibit “From the Heart – a mosaic harmony” was the beautiful result of individual student contributions blended to create mosaics of many forms. Almost every single piece of artwork sold on the opening night and proceeds supported educational programming at The Bay School. We thank all the families who helped create this very special event!

In October 2011, The Bay School invited family members to participate in the school’s annual Harvest Festival. Dressed in creative and colorful costumes, our students and families attended and enjoyed an assortment of food, cookie-decorating, dancing, face-painting, and trick-or-treating with our neighboring businesses. In May 2011, The Chardonnay II Sailing Company graciously donated a private charter to honor the dedicated teachers and instructors at The Bay School. After the students were dismissed the team headed to the Santa Cruz Harbor and boarded the 70-foot yacht, which then led a two-hour tour of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. The Bay School extends a big thank you to the Chardonnay II for an extremely generous donation and a very memorable afternoon!

On April 19, 2011, TBS parents surprised the instructors, teachers, and administrators of The Bay School with a Staff Appreciation Fiesta! After the students were dismissed, the made-to-order taco cart rolled in, the lime slushy machine began cranking, and the professional classical guitarist welcomed staff to the outside play area to enjoy the festivities. The party was complete with fiesta-themed decorations, a large “Thank You” banner, and delicious fresh fruit and dessert spreads. TBS team sends a warm thank you to all the parents for their thoughtfulness, generosity, and continued support.

In January 2011, we showcased the art of our talented students downtown Santa Cruz during the First Friday Art Tour.

 On Wednesday, the brightly colored birds brought smiles to students' faces as they slathered glue on them with a paint brush and then carefully covered them with strips of tissue paper. Sewing pins made for eyes.

The Bay School was thrilled to feature the artwork of talented 12-year-old student Matthew on one of the May Institute’s 2010 holiday cards. These cards were sold at Borders Bookstores nation-wide! All proceeds supported the May Institute’s programs for children and adults with autism, brain injury, and other special needs.
